As NerdWallet sought to embark on a transition from a content company to a product-led company in 2017, Headstand began working on a corporate visibility program involving messaging development, media relations and a speaking and awards bureau to position NerdWallet as a trusted advisor providing sound advice to help Americans navigate their most complex financial decisions.
To help solidify that position in the minds of media, Headstand pitched a New York media tour in the fall of 2017 around the launch of NerdWallet's first beta membership product, securing meetings with Bloomberg, Inc., MONEY, Moneyish and The Wall Street Journal.
To build up CEO Tim Chen's platform as a successful entrepreneur leading a quickly company now valued at $520 million, the team pursued executive profile opportunities with top-tier business and tech publications, landing opportunities with Bloomberg Technology, Chief Executive, Inc.'s "Notes to My Younger Self" video series, "The Forbes Interview" podcast, Omidyar Network's "Founders Corner" podcast and OZY's "Rising Stars" column.
A member of the CFPB's Advisory Board, Tim is also an advocate for consumer financial protection, and the team has positioned him as a thought leader on the financial struggles facing everyday Americans, securing interest from economics reporters with The Wall Street Journal, NPR and The Washington Post.
